Turn power off before connecting ballast tester and remove all lamps. Properly connect the red output terminal of the tester to one of the red output leads of the ballast to be tested and the black output terminal lead of tester to one of the blue output leads of the same ballast. Insulate all other red and blue leads of the ballast with wire nuts.
Power on the ballast by providing suitable input voltage to black and white leads. The green LED on the tester will be on in 2 or 3 seconds, which shows that the ballast works properly. If the green LED stays off or is dim, the ballast is defective. Repeat this procedure for all remaining output leads.
The recommended input voltage to test the different models of EESB and LCC Cold Cathode ballasts is summerized in the table to the left. |
